Single-Crystal Mullite Fibres
Single-crystal mullite fibres are regarded as the “holy grail” of composite reinforcement materials, and are a vital material for reinforcing metal matrix composites (MMCs) and ceramic matrix composite (CMCs) for use in extreme environments.
Single-crystal mullite fibres are currently not commercially available, despite their remarkable attributes and potential to enhance high-performance materials.
GCM is initiating a work program to advance and commercialise single-crystal mullite fibre technology, utilising Topaz from the Torrington Project in a mine-to-market project, based on prior research work conducted by the Company’s wholly owned subsidiary, TopFibre Pty. Ltd. GCM has already achieved proof-of-concept for this innovative technology.
