Torrington Topaz and Tungsten Project

The Torrington Project is an advanced Topaz-Tungsten project focused on the recovery of Topaz and Tungsten concentrates from large deposits of outcropping silexite, located near Torrington NSW. Green Critical Minerals wholly owned subsidiary, Torrington Minerals Pty Ltd, has two Exploration Licenses for the project.

Key features

  • In total there are estimated to be 4-6 km² of Silexite bodies within the Torrington project
  • Excellent recovery of topaz and tungsten saleable products through processing of silexite
  • Mining of tungsten at Torrington is reliable and historically proven, with operations taking place as early as 1903
  • Individual prospects with mineralisation sitting within 10-30m of the surface, allowing a low-cost, open pit operation

  • High-Performance Alloys & Superalloys – Used in aerospace, defence, and industrial applications requiring extreme heat resistance.
  • Tungsten Carbide for Cutting Tools & Wear Parts – Essential in mining, machining, and precision manufacturing.
  • Electronics & Energy Applications – Incorporated in electrical contacts, X-ray tubes, and emerging battery technologies.
  • Radiation Shielding & Military Uses – Leveraged for kinetic energy penetrators, armour-piercing ammunition, and radiation absorption.

Topaz can be used to produce mullite fibre for use in the specialist metals / ceramic composite markets. Green Critical Minerals, through its wholly owned subsidiary TopFibre Pty Ltd, conducted a 4-year research project with the University of New South Wales, which resulted in proof-of-concept for utilising topaz for single-crystal mullite fibres, with applications downstream in the production of military vehicle and personnel armour, friction (brake) pads and catalytic converters.
